Description

This Collins RARE 399C-1 VFO for the KWM-2 & KWM-2A, is in Excellent Condition, and is the Last One Produced S/N 200.

Some time ago, Rod Blacksome did a Collins survey and at that time the lowest serial number recorded from owners was 6, and the latest serial number was 161.

According to Collins records, only 200 units were made and the highest serial number was 200.

This 399C-1 is serial number 200.

Many 312B-5 VFO / Consoles were made but not many 399C-1s which were made from 1959 to 1961.

This VFO appears to have the original paint and finish which look great.

The only flaw I can see is some irregularities under the original paint on the left side. It looks as if the bare metal was not sanded as well as it should have been at the factory and you can see a few rough spots under the paint. It is not corrossion or rust.

You would not see it as you have to hold the unit just right under a bright light to see it and you cannot see it sitting on a desk or in a station.

I tested this beautiful 399C-1 with a KWM-2 transceiver and it appears to be working as it should with a great sounding speaker.

The PTO and dial appear to be working very well.

I am selling this 399C-1 as is, as described.

The Collins 399C-1 VFO with Speaker dervives its required voltages from the KWM-2 via a supplied interface cable. It plugs into a special socket inside the KWM-2. There is a function lever switch on front. An audio cable with RCA phono plug for the speaker also exits the rear of the 399C-1. 10 x 8 x 12 inches.
