Description

This Collins 30L-1 Winged Emblem HF Linear Amplifier, is in Excellent Cosmetic Condition.

The Serial Number is 12500.

The Cabinet is in great shape with no bad marks or scratches, and has a metal trim ring.

The beautiful front panel has no marks, scratches, or dings.

The AC cord still works but needs to be replaced.

This amplifier is wired for 120 VAC operation which can be changed to 240 VAC if desired.

This amplifier has been stored for a few decades unused, and it looks like it has not been used much at all.

I tested this amplifier and powered up and loaded up okay but when the drive was increased so the output was around 300 watts, the F2 6 Amp Fuse would blow.

I attempted to reform the Power Supply Capacitors by letting it sit powered up for about 5 hours and it did not help the problem and now it takes less drive to blow the F2 Fuse.

Testing was done with a lower amp fuse.

So it is likely this 30L-1 will need either new capacitors or the best thing to do is install an aftermarket, pre built power supply board with all the capacitors, resistors and diodes.

The tubes all seem to be okay judging by the output I saw with the drive level, and there is no arching or other visible problems.

The input SWR was low indicating the tuned input coils are good on all the bands.

The fan runs smooth and quiet.

It is well worth the effort to service this amp with a new power supply board as it is in reall beautiful condition.

I am selling this vintage Amplifier as is, as described, For a client who was a collector of fine Collins Radio Gear and is downsizing due to needing more room for more gear!

I will also include a reproduction of the manual.

I am very proficient packing heavy vintage gear so it will be packed properly to avoid and damage. This is no easy task and requires purchasing the correct shipping cartons, and years of experience.

The shipping quote is an average estimate and if the shipping comes out to be less I will refund the difference.

NOTE, It would be prudent to change the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply area as they are original and getting old. There are pre built boards available that are inexpensive.

The 30L-1 Amplifier I have listed, is a cut above what you normally see because they came from  collector of only the finest Collins gear.
