Alpha PA-78 HF Linear Amplifier 10-160 meters with No Tune & Manual Tuning System in Collector Quality Condition.

 It is a late Serial Number 8700 and is like new inside and out. 

 This Amp is part of a silent key’s collection I am selling. This Amplifier was purchased by him in 1994 and has been stored unused in a controlled environment since then, so it has very few hours of operation time.

  The Alpha PA-78,is Known as one of the best Amateur Linear amplifiers made. It has a Jennings RJ1A Vacuum Relay for excellent QSK and quiet switching. It has a Peter Dahl Hypersill Transformer which is 15% lighter than the old style and impervious to moisture or humidity.

  The band switch is a Radio Switch type with Coin Silver button style contacts which is the best.

The Blower is super quiet. Be sure to remove the two screws on the back panel which stabilize the blower motor during shipment.

  I tested this amplifier on my bench on all bands and it works great with full output and no apparent problems.

 Both the manual and no tune band positions performed very well. Depending on where in the band you are operating, there may be a slight reduction in output power using the no tune segments on the band switch. I did not see much reduction when testing.

 I have the original shipping cartons for the amplifier and transformer which I will remove and shipped separately. I will also include a copy of the Operation and Technical manual.

 I am selling this beautiful amplifier as is, as described for the family of a silent key. Due to the difficulties packing and shipping, I will not accept returns on this item.
