Description
This Phico PT-49 Transitone 1940 Vintage AM Radio, is in Excellent Condition and Working.
Introduced in June 1940 as part of Philco's 1941 lineup, just 5,700 sets were produced of this beautiful pre-War radio. The very striking harp-shaped walnut case with Zebrawood veneer trim was just refinished and hand polished to a gorgeous patina. Its vertical louvered grille is in mint condition. Its claw feet, knobs, speaker cloth, dial, dial cover and power cord are all original. The dial lights up beautifully in the dark. It puts out big sound across the AM dial thanks to its five tubes and 6-inch electrodynamic speaker which provide outstanding resonant tone and great sensitivity. This is an excellent example of an obscure radio that would be a terrific addition to any collection. 13"W x 9-1/2"H x 7"D. |
As with most vintage gear, it really should have the electrolytic capacitors replaced before putting it into continuous service. I am selling this radio as is, as described
