This RL Drake T-4X HF Transmitter is in Excellent Cosmetic Condition, and Needs Work

It is S/N 13013.

 This Transmitter has been sent to Ron Baker, WB4HFN to be refurbished, as several other Drake Radios I have listed.

The invoice for this unit is shown in the pictures, and this rig has been completely gone through by Ron.

He typically checks everything, replaces any tubes, crystals and components as needed, and does a complete alignment. He also refinished the cabinet on this T-4X.

I checked this transmitter on my bench and it powered up okay but when I keyed it up to first check the bias, the current meter pegged and blew the power supply fuse.

 I am guessing one of the finals shorted and may have taken out a component.

 The transmitter powers up but has reduced power out and the carrier balance is no longer set correctly. The alignment also now appears to be off.

This Transmitter is in Beautiful cosmetic Condition, as Ron did a full refurbishment.

The front face plate is clean with no bad marks or scratches and the cabinet has been refinished to the original late style textured finish.

This transmitter has been stored unused, wrapped in plastic, in a controlled temperature environment, for several years.  

I am selling it as is as described, for a client who collects only the finest RL Drake gear.

Note: This transmitter requires a Drake AC-4 power supply (not included).

 I have AC-4 Powers supplies available to the purchaser of this transmitter. All have been tested and they are later serial number units.

The Drake T-4X is an HF amateur band transmitter covering 80 through 10 meters. Four additional crystal sockets are available for 500 kHz ranges from 1.8-30 MHz (except 2.3-3, 5-6 and 11-11.5 MHz). Modes include USB, LSB, CW and AM. Input power is 200 watts CW, 260 watts AM/SSB. The VFO provides 1 kHz dial accuracy. VOX or PTT may be selected.

 

This radio requires the AC-3 AC power supply or the DC-3 power supply. 10.75 x 5.5 x 11.675".
