Description

This RL Drake TR-7 HF Transceiver has the optional SL-6000 6 KC AM filter and SL-300,  300 Hz CW Filters installed.

It is in Very Good Condition and was Recently Serviced (Aligned) and sold by Ron Baker. It has a late S/N 9972. I will include the original invoice from Ron Baker.

This TR-7 also has the MARS Mod and will Transmit and Receive Full Coverage so there is no need for the AUX-7 Board.

It also has a FA-7 Type Fan installed (Not Original Drake Fan) and it is quiet and just the right speed.

This Radio is super clean inside and out with only a small mark on the bezel as pictured.

It has a late style Light Gray original cabinet.

This TR-7 was purchased by a customer and has decided to sell it for a fully loaded TR-7 I had in stock.

I tested this radio on the air and it has excellent receive sensitivity. On transmit, it puts the rated power on all bands.

I also checked the transmit audio and it sounds great on the air and both SSB filters appear to be working fine.

The only thing I found is that Normally if this radio is used with a Drake PS-7 Power supply, the radio ON/OFF switch will turn on the radio and the power supply at the same time. This is achieved by shorting the two control wires in the PS-7 Control line.  For some reason, a PS-7 will not turn on when the radio it turned on.

If used with a power supply like an Astron or other 13.8 VDC / 25 Amp power supply, the radio turns on and off as it should.  This is not an issue if used with any other power supply than the PS-7.

If used with a PS-7, you would have to either short the two control wires in the PS-7, which would keep the supply on even when the radio is off, or use an external switch to turn off the PS-7 when not in use.

This radio comes with a 13.8 volt DC power cord and a laser printed copy of the manual.

The Drake TR-7 is a solid-state amateur band transceiver covering 160 through 10 meters. Modes include USB, LSB, CW, RTTY and AM. It provides receive coverage from 1.5 to 30 MHz without crystals or gaps. Superior receive performance is achieved by using 48 MHz IF Up Conversion approach. Enjoy true passband tuning to combat heavy QRM. The standard filter is 2.3 kHz SSB. Power input is 250 watts PEP SSB/CW.

This radio even includes a 150 MHz frequency counter and RF watt meter.

13.6 x 4.6 x 12.5 inches 17.1 lbs. This radio requires 13.6 VDC at 25 Amps
