Description
Ten-Tec RARE Model TT 920 Aircraft Band Hand Held Transceiver with Charger, 12 Adapter, & Manual.
The Battery will likely need a replacement insert. The 12 Volt adapter is actually a converted battery pack with car lighter plug and is included. The radio appears to be working great with that.
Please check my other listings for more accessories.
I am selling this item for a friend who collected Ten-Tec gear for many years, and purchased these items for his collection and did not use them.
it is sold as is, as described.
Ten-Tec TT-920 (also referred to as Model TT-920) is a vintage handheld aviation band transceiver (airband radio), designed for aircraft communications rather than amateur (ham) radio use. It was a portable VHF NAV/COM unit manufactured in the USA by Ten-Tec (primarily known for ham gear but they produced some aviation and commercial radios).Key Details and Specifications
- Type: Handheld portable aviation transceiver (AM mode for airband voice).
- Frequency Range: VHF airband – typically 108–135.975 MHz (covers NAV frequencies 108–117.975 MHz and COM 118–135.975 MHz, with 25 kHz or 8.33 kHz channel spacing in some units).
- Modes: AM (amplitude modulation) for aviation voice communications (conforms to FAA/industry standards for airband).
- Features: Basic handheld design with antenna, belt clip, rechargeable battery (NiCd or similar), AC adapter/charger included in many units; some had NAV/COM capabilities (navigation tones or VOR/ILS support, though primarily COM-focused in handheld form).
- Power: Battery-operated (internal rechargeable pack) with external charger; low power output suitable for handheld aviation use (typically a few watts).
- Build: Rugged gray plastic case; compact and portable; included accessories often: flexible antenna, belt clip, charger.
- Era: Likely 1990s (references in old Ten-Tec reflector posts from 1997 mention it as an "AM airband HT"); discontinued long ago (Ten-Tec shifted focus to ham radio).
- Purpose: Pilot/portable aviation comms (e.g., monitoring tower/ATIS, backup handheld for aircraft, ground ops); not for ham bands (no SSB/CW/digital modes).
