The Barker & Williamson (B&W) TL 10 meter coil (often labeled as 10-TL or similar in the Airdux™ TL series) is a vintage air-wound inductor designed for amateur radio transmitting applications, such as tank coils in amplifiers, pi-network tuners, link-coupled antenna couplers, or band-switching setups in mid-20th-century ham gear.B&W's Airdux™ TL line uses polycarbonate round rods for support (stronger and more vibration-resistant than flat-rib Miniductors™), with tinned copper wire windings for high Q (efficiency), mechanical stability, and higher power handling (typically suitable for 500W+ in proper setups, compared to lower-power Miniductors™ up to ~150W). These were popular in vintage ham radio for plug-in band changes, often with ceramic or plastic bases for easy swapping in transmitters or linear amplifiers.For the 10-meter band (28-29.7 MHz), the coil is typically short and low-inductance (compact design, often around 2-4 inches long, fewer turns, using thicker wire like 12-16 AWG depending on exact model). It's optimized for higher frequencies where less inductance is needed compared to lower bands like 80m.
