Description

Crystals HC-6/U Size for the Amateur Radio Bands 160,80,40,15, & 10 Meters Used / Tested Free Shipping in the USA

This Group of Crystals have been tested with my custom crystal checker. Each crystal is listed and marked with the actual frequency as many used crystals tend to drift a bit over time.

Most are mil spec (CR-18/U) and all are in the HC-6/U package.

They are the larger size crystal nearly 3/4 in wide. The precise specifications are below.

Most are in excellent cosmetic condition, and some have patina from age.

All come with a satisfaction guarantee.

Please pick the crystals you need and add them to the shopping cart one at a time.

I have at least one of each listed and some multiples. The web site will not let you add more than I have in stock.

Physical Characteristics and Holder
  • Holder/Case Type: Rectangular metal can (cold-welded or soldered seam), hermetically sealed for environmental protection (shock, vibration, humidity).
    • Pins: Two thin wire pins (diameter ≈0.050 inches / 1.27 mm), spaced 0.486 inches (≈12.34 mm) apart — plugs directly into standard crystal sockets.
    • Dimensions (approximate, maximums per mil specs and common datasheets):
      • Height (body, excluding pins): ≈0.78–0.80 inches (19.8–20.3 mm).
      • Width: ≈0.76 inches (19.3 mm).
      • Thickness/Depth: ≈0.35 inches (8.9 mm).
      • Pin length: Typically 0.2–0.3 inches protruding (varies).

The HC-6/U (often written as HC6/U or HC-6/U) is a classic military-standard quartz crystal holder (enclosure/case type) widely used from the mid-20th century through the 1980s–1990s. It falls under U.S. military specifications like MIL-H-10056 (for holders) and MIL-PRF-3098 (general requirements for quartz crystal units). The "/U" suffix denotes the standard utility version for general-purpose applications. It's essentially the same physical package as the CR-18/U (and equivalents like CR-23/U, CR-27/U, etc.) you asked about previously — many military crystals marked CR-18/U or CR-18A/U are housed in an HC-6/U case. The CR- designation refers to the specific crystal unit type under MIL specs, while HC-6/U describes the holder itself.
