Description
Hallicrafters SR-2000 Crystal HC-6/U / CR-18A/U 13.750 MHz for 15 Meters 21.0 to 21.0 Used / Tested
marked 13750.00 (13.750 MHz or 13,750.000 kHz)
This is the correct heterodyne oscillator crystals (also called premix or injection crystals) for the Hallicrafters SR-2000 "Hurricane" transceiver. The SR-2000 is a vintage tube-type HF transceiver (circa 1965–1972) covering the 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m amateur bands with high power (up to 2 kW PEP input on SSB). It uses a double-conversion superheterodyne receiver and a similar heterodyne scheme in the transmitter, where these crystals provide fixed, stable local oscillator injection for band selection and mixing to achieve the operating frequency.
From the official Hallicrafters SR-2000 service/operating manual (and consistent references in restorations and ham radio archives):
- These are CR-18A/U type crystals in HC-6 holders.
- This crystal is specifically listed for the heterodyne oscillator positions as follows:
13,750,000 kHz (13.750 MHz) Covers the 21.0 MHz band (15 meters, typically 21.0–21.5 MHz).
The SR-2000's bandswitch selects the appropriate crystal (along with other switching for filters, preselector, etc.), and the VFO (permeability-tuned, covering ~500 kHz per band) tunes within each segment. The crystals ensure precise, drift-free injection for the first mixer stage.Other heterodyne crystals in the SR-2000 include:
- 13,500.000 kHz for 7.0 MHz (40m)
- 10,250.000 kHz for 14.0 MHz (20m)
- 10,000.000 KHz for 80.0 MHz (80m)
