NOS Shure 444 Desk Microphone – Professionally Upgraded with New Shure R96 Low-Impedance CartridgeUp for sale is a brand new old stock Shure 444 controlled magnetic desk microphone that arrived in its sealed factory box with a defective original high-impedance element. Rather than return it, I installed a brand new genuine Shure R96 replacement dynamic cartridge (still sealed in its original Shure packaging at the time of installation).The R96 is Shure’s official replacement element for the 526T and 550L series and converts this classic 444 into a proper low-impedance dynamic microphone. It is now ideally matched for use with modern solid-state ham radios, CB transceivers, marine radios, and any equipment designed for low-impedance (low-Z) microphones.Why this matters:
Original Shure 444 mics were high-impedance and worked best with vintage tube gear. Many newer radios prefer or require low-impedance mics for optimal performance without excessive gain or noise. This upgraded 444 delivers clean, strong audio right out of the box for today’s equipment.Condition & Details:
