Description

Swan WM-2000 HF Wattmeter with 200, 1000, & 2000 Watt Scales in Excellent Condition

It is rare to find one of these WM-2000 meters in this nice condition.

They are great units and have a nice large meter which is easy to read and easy to calibrate.

I have tested this one on the air and it works great with no problems.

The Swan WM-2000 is a vintage HF SWR/Power meter (wattmeter) made by Swan Electronics, popular among amateur radio (ham) operators and sometimes CB users in the 1970s–1980s era.Key Specifications and Features
  • Frequency range: Primarily 3.5–30 MHz (HF bands); some references note effective use from 1.8–30 MHz.
  • Power measurement: Up to 2000 watts. It typically has multiple scales (e.g., 200W / 1000W / 2000W) for better accuracy at different power levels.
  • Modes: Measures forward power, reflected power, and SWR (Standing Wave Ratio). The WM-2000A version supports average (RMS) or peak (PEP) reading, with the peak function often requiring AC power (it has a power cord for the internal circuitry).
  • Connectors: SO-239 (UHF female) input and output on the rear.
  • Design: Through-line (inline) directional coupler style. It's analog with a meter movement and is known for being reasonably accurate on HF when calibrated properly.
  • Power source: Passive for basic SWR/average power.
  • Common uses: Tuning antennas, monitoring transmitter output, checking SWR with ham rigs or linear amplifiers up to ~2 kW PEP.
It was designed specifically for HF ham radio rather than wideband use, so it performs best in that range. Manuals are available online (search for "Swan WM-2000A instruction manual" or "WM-2000 user.pdf") for operation, hookup, and basic info. Calibration can sometimes be tricky if the meter drifts over time.Condition matters a lot when selling: Working condition, clean face/meter, original box/manual, and any signs of wear or modifications will affect value. Test it if possible (low power SWR check + forward power with a known source).
