Description
Ten-Tec Model 411-10 Optional 10 Meter Modification Board for the Centaur Amplifier NEW in Box
Ten-Tec Model 411-10 (often called the 411-10 Ten Meter Mod Board or 10 Meter Input Modification Board) is a rare factory-optional modification board for the Ten-Tec Centaur Model 411 linear amplifier (a 600W output HF amp using three 811A tubes, covering 160–10 meters when modified). The Centaur was originally designed with coverage from 160–15 meters (with 10 meters locked out or not fully supported in stock form due to FCC regulations or design at the time), and this board enables full 10-meter operation by adding proper input matching/tuning circuitry (e.g., an additional ferrite toroid or tuned input components on the board to handle the band efficiently without excessive SWR or inefficiency).Key Details and Specifications
- Purpose: Provides input matching for 10 meters (28–29.7 MHz), allowing the amp to produce rated output (~500W on 10m per some references) with low drive (typically 50–100W) and good efficiency. It may include a small ferrite toroid, capacitors, inductors, or other components on a dedicated PC board that installs internally (often in place of or alongside the stock input board).
- Installation: Internal mod; requires unlocking the bandswitch lockout (physical or jumper) and installing the board per service notes or mod instructions. Not a plug-and-play for all units—some amps needed this for proper 10m performance without high reflected power.
- Compatibility: Specifically for the Centaur Model 411 (and possibly export 411E variants). Not for other Ten-Tec amps like Hercules, Titan, or Centurion without adaptation.
- Era: 1990s (Centaur produced ~1990s; 10m mods became relevant post-WARC/FCC changes allowing amateur use).
