Description

Hallicrafters SX-122 General Coverage Receiver in Excellent Condition, Working Great.

The Hallicrafters SX-122 is a classic vacuum-tube general-coverage communications receiver produced from approximately 1962 to 1964 (with the later SX-122A variant until around 1971). It was a top-of-the-line model in its era, known for solid performance in AM, SSB, and CW reception. It uses dual-conversion on all bands with a 50 kHz second IF for excellent selectivity and image rejection. It is a popular "boatanchor" receiver among vintage radio enthusiasts and collectors.Key Specifications
  • Type: Dual-conversion superheterodyne (11 tubes + semiconductors)
  • Frequency Coverage (4 bands):
    • Band 1: 0.538 – 1.58 MHz (includes AM broadcast band)
    • Band 2: 1.72 – 4.9 MHz
    • Band 3: 4.6 – 13 MHz
    • Band 4: 12 – 34 MHz
    • Note: Small reception gap between 1.58–1.72 MHz
  • Modes: AM, SSB, CW
  • Selectivity: 5 kHz / 2.5 kHz / 0.5 kHz (-6 dB)
  • Sensitivity: Good for its era (especially on higher bands)
  • Features: RF Gain, Antenna Trimmer, Selectivity control, BFO, AVC, S-meter, Calibrator (optional crystal calibrator), headphone jack, speaker terminals
  • Power: 105–125 VAC (SX-122); SX-122A supports 115/230 VAC
  • Dimensions: 18.75" W × 8" H × 9.75" D (approx. 476 × 203 × 248 mm)
  • Weight: Approximately 29 lbs (13.2 kg)

I have tested this beautiful receiver on the air, and it appears to be working as it should with signals on all bands. The Calibrator also works. As with most vintage gear, it may be improved with alignment or tube replacement, but it seems to be working great.   A Good Copy of the manual is included.

I am selling it as is, as described.

If the shipping comes out to be less (if you are close to Wisconsin) I will refund the difference in shipping costs.
