Description
Harris / Multronics Heavy Duty Mil-Spec 1.5–50 uH Variable Roller Inductor with Silver-Plated Ribbon Coil & 2 Contact set #1
Harris Green-Frame Roller Inductor – 1.5 to 50 µHGenuine military-style Harris (or equivalent) large roller inductor with distinctive green plastic (Delrin-type) frame. Measured continuous range 1.5–50 µH. Features air-wound silver-plated flat ribbon coil and dual silver contacts that ride on the inside of the turns. ¼″ shaft for standard drive or coupling. Overall size approximately 13″ long × 5″ wide × 6″ high. Excellent high-Q construction suitable for HF antenna tuners, matching networks, or amplifier tank circuits. Smooth roller action when cleaned and lubricated. A substantial, high-performance roller for higher-power amateur radio or surplus projects.
This is a larger Harris (or Harris-family / military surplus) roller inductor with the same distinctive green plastic (Delrin-type) frame construction. It matches the documented Harris military units (example: 755017A4530 and related) that feature green or black frames, heavy silver-plated flat-ribbon coils, and dual wipers/contacts that ride on the inside of the ribbon turns.
Specs & Information
- Inductance range: 1.5–50 µH (measured; continuous variable via the internal roller contacts)
- Coil: Air-wound, flat ribbon, silver-plated
- Contacts: Double silver-plated wipers contacting the ribbon from inside the coil
- Shaft: ¼″ diameter
- Frame/body: Green-colored plastic (Delrin or similar high-strength insulating material) end plates, center support, and structure
- Dimensions: Approx. 13″ long × 5″ wide × 6″ high (matches your measurements)
- Typical current rating (comparable ribbon units): 8–15+ A range depending on exact ribbon cross-section (these are medium-to-high power capable)
- Construction notes: Open-frame design optimized for HF antenna tuners, matching networks, and amplifiers. High-Q air-core style. Military-origin units were built for reliability under RF voltage and current stress. The dual internal contacts provide low-resistance, high-current contact.
