Jensen Muzak "Extended Range" 1953 Vintage PM Speaker in Classic Brown Wood Enclosure Cabinet.
This 1950s Speaker and cabinet are in very good condition for the age and with a little paint with look great. It is very well built and the speaker is of the highest quality.
It sounds fantastic and far better than modern versions. This 1950s speaker with fit into and 50s theme room and is a true Jem.
This unit is a cool piece of audio history: a genuine vintage Jensen speaker made expressly for Muzak! This substantial wooden cabinet measures approximately 20 inches wide, 16 inches high, and 9.5 inches deep. It houses a large Jensen PM driver (marked 5315 on the frame) labeled as an Extended Range speaker – built tough for background music and paging systems back in the day.The cabinet has that great retro brown finish with some honest vintage wear that adds character. Internally braced with insulation for solid sound. Whether you're a collector of vintage Jensen gear, building a retro setup, or just love Muzak nostalgia, this is a unique find. Sounds great for music, guitar practice extension, or display.
Jensen made these specifically for Muzak (the famous "elevator music" / background music company). The label on yours ("Made Expressly for Muzak by Jensen MFG. CO.") and the "Extended Range PM Speaker" wording match known examples. The number 5315 is likely a 1953 production code on the frame. These were built for durability in commercial installations (offices, stores, schools, etc.) though Jensen's reputation for good tone carries over.
