Description
Oval Vintage Speaker 5" x 7" with Standard mounting holes
I tested this speaker and it sounds really nice and will take high level audio from vintage radios.
5" x 7" Oval Speaker (Part/Marking Numbers: 3174 & 3747731)This is a classic 5x7 inch oval (elliptical) permanent magnet loudspeaker, commonly used as a replacement or original speaker in vintage equipment. The stamped numbers (3174 on the magnet, 3747731 on the frame) appear to be manufacturer internal part or date codes, typical for speakers from the 1960s–1980s era. These were widely used in:
- Vintage ham radio external speaker cabinets (e.g., Drake MS-4, Collins S-Line/312-series accessories, and similar)
- Classic car radios, CB radios, and communications equipment
- Audio consoles or desk speakers requiring a compact oval form factor
- Oval cone approximately 5" x 7"
- Metal frame with 4 mounting holes
- Standard voice coil (likely 4–8 ohms, common for the era)
- Single cone design for voice/audio reproduction
