  • 12K5S8: Oxford model designation (12" size, K5 series, S8 likely indicates 8-ohm impedance variant).

  • P4561: Printed on the cone — a common identifier on original Oxford cones used in Fender amps from this era.

    • Date Code (602): The 6 indicates the year 1966, and 02 means it was built during the 2nd week of January. [1, 2]
    • Model Number (12K5S8):
      • 12 = 12-inch diameter.
      • K = Power handling capability (typically rated for mid-power applications, around 20 to 30 watts, standard for Fender Deluxe Reverb or Tremolux amps).

These speakers are known for a warm, smooth, mid-focused tone with gradual breakup — often described as sweeter and less aggressive than contemporary Jensens (e.g., similar to a Jensen C12Q in character). They typically handle 20–30W RMS and are prized by vintage Fender enthusiasts for authenticity and musical tone.
