Description
This RL Drake RCS-4 Remote Antenna Selector Control Box for the 4-Line series of gear.
The Antenna switch box that goes on the tower is not included.
The control box is super clean.
I have not tested this control box with a switch box. It does appear to power up okay.
I am selling it as is, as described.
The R.L. Drake RCS-4 (circa late 1970s, often listed ~1977) is a vintage amateur-radio remote coaxial antenna switch. The complete original system consists of two main pieces: the indoor control console (the unit you have) and the outdoor/remote switching unit (relay/rotary head).
Key characteristics of the original complete set:
- Switches up to 5 coax-fed antennas using a single main feed line.
- Unused antennas are automatically grounded.
- Uses a heavy-duty rotary coax switch driven by a gear motor in the remote head.
- Controlled via multi-conductor (commonly described as 8-wire) control/rotor-style cable between the console and remote unit (not voltage-over-coax like the later Ameritron RCS-4).
- AC-powered control console (120/220 V selectable in period literature).
- Metal-case construction.
- Designed for HF amateur use (exact frequency/power ratings are sparsely documented in surviving public references; period catalogs and manuals emphasize multi-antenna convenience and grounding of unused ports).
Your listing is the control box/console only + a copy of the manual. The remote outdoor unit, control cable, and any mounting hardware are not included. This is useful as a replacement/spare console, for collectors of Drake station accessories, or for someone who already has (or can source) a matching remote head.
