This is a classic, simple, high-value entry-level or QRP ham radio project kit from Ten-Tec's T-Kit line (discontinued but popular in the 1990s–2000s). It is supplied as a module board with all board-mounted parts, instructions, and a pre-drilled/labeled front panel. You select and build it for one HF ham band (parts for 160–10 meters included; common choices are 40m or 80m/20m). The matching 1000-C Enclosure + Hardware Pak provides the aluminum case, knobs, speaker hardware, and finishing parts for a complete, professional-looking build.

Key Specifications & Features
  • Architecture: Direct-conversion (NE612 mixer-oscillator IC) for SSB/CW.
  • Tuning: Varactor-tuned (MV209) with separate Bandset (coarse) and smooth ~20 kHz Bandspread (fine) controls. RF gain control. Front-panel adjustable bandpass filter (LM358 op-amp).
  • Audio: TDA2611A amplifier IC; good speaker output + stereo headphone jack (1/8").
  • Power: 12–15 VDC (low current draw; suitable for portable/battery use).
  • Board Size: Compact ~6" W x 2.5" D.
  • Other Provisions: TX sidetone injection, receiver muting during transmit (ideal for simple QRP transceiver pairing), zener regulation.

  • Performance Notes (from eHam reviews, avg. ~4.7/5): Surprisingly sensitive and stable (after warm-up) for a direct-conversion design; rivals far more expensive receivers for CW/SSB on lower bands. Wide selectivity (use external audio filter if needed for crowded bands); low noise floor; good audio. Not ideal for strong AM broadcast listening.
