Description

Collins 75A-4 & KWS-1, Solid Brass CNC Made, 4:1 Spinner / Vernier Tuning Knob Reproduction BRASS FINISH #4

It was purchased new and was not used much so it is in excellent condition, with no bad marks or scratches.

I have not polished the brass but it looks great as it is and if buffed and polished it would really shine!

To my knowledge to date, no one is making them anymore.

This one uses (2) slotted Set Screws

This is a high-quality aftermarket (reproduction/custom) weighted spinner knob designed for the Collins 75A-4 receiver’s main tuning (kilocycles) control. It works with the optional or factory 4:1 gear-reduction drive (not included) that later 75A-4s used (or that can be retrofitted to earlier units). The heavy solid-brass construction (~16 oz / 1 lb) adds significant inertia/flywheel effect for a smooth, silky, weighted tuning feel that many operators prefer over the lighter original phenolic Daka-Ware-style knob.

This one is left unpainted, with the brass finish. 4:1 factory knob. Multiple makers produced similar weighted CNC Made brass, weighted spinners over the years for the 75A-4 (and related gear such as the KWS-1, 51J series and 75A-2 & 3).

The original Collins 4:1 vernier assembly provided ~25 kHz per revolution for finer control, especially useful for SSB/CW.

The 4:1 drive unit is required for this knob (not included) however I have read that an extension can be made to use without a 4:1 gear set.
