Description

Kenwood T-599 Vintage Ham Radio Transmitter in Good Cosmetic Condition, For Repair or Parts.

This transmitter is complete. It has sat unused for at least 20 years and when I tested it, the 4 amp fuse blew as I brought it up with a variac.

It is very common for the main electrolytic capacitors to fail this way and short out.

Kenwood T-599 SSB/CW/AM transmitter from the classic 1970s "Twins" series. This hybrid transmitter is the perfect mate for the Kenwood R-599 receiver and offers solid performance on 80 through 10 meters with up to 200 watts PEP output on SSB.Condition details:
  • Good overall cosmetic condition with clean front panel, minimal wear, and all original knobs/covers intact.
  • Non-working — it blows the main fuse immediately when powered on. The most likely cause is a shorted main electrolytic filter capacitor in the power supply (a common failure on these vintage units after 50+ years). No other major damage noted.
  • Sold strictly as-is / for repair or parts. Ideal project for a ham radio restorer or technician.
