Description

Taylor Matched Pair of 572B Amplifier Vacuum Tubes NOS 2002 Date Codes

I tested this set of 2,  572Bs in an Ameritron 811 Amplifier, one at a time. They are all full emission and had the same output (well matched).

Many say the 2002 dates of manufacturing are superior to the Chinese tubes made today.

Taylor 572B vacuum tubes are high-mu power triodes designed for RF power amplification, oscillators, and modulators in amateur radio (ham) linear amplifiers. They serve as robust upgrades/replacements for the 811A in many amplifiers (e.g., Heathkit SB-200/SB-201, Ameritron, Yaesu FL-2100, etc.).

Key Specs & Usage
  • High-mu triode with thoriated-tungsten filament (6.3V @ ~4A).
  • Plate dissipation: Up to ~160W (higher peak capability than 811A).
  • Max plate voltage: Around 2750V in typical class B grounded-grid linear service.
  • Popular in HF linear amplifiers for higher power handling and durability.

Date code 0245 PRC: This indicates manufacture in 2002, week 45, People's Republic of China (PRC). These are Chinese-made tubes branded under the Taylor name (RF Parts Company acquired/uses the Taylor brand and sources/tests Chinese production). They are modern production (not original pre-1980s U.S. Taylor/Cetron NOS), but still desirable when well-tested and matched.
