United Electron 811A vacuum tubes Set of (4) Made in England All Tested Full Output

I tested this set of 4,  811As in an Ameritron 811 Amplifier, one at a time they are all full emission and had the same output (well matched). In Fact they tested more output than most of all the 811A tubes I tested.

United Electron 811A vacuum tubes are high-mu power triodes designed primarily for RF amplifier, oscillator, and modulator applications in amateur radio (ham), commercial transmitters, and industrial equipment. They handle up to ~65W plate dissipation (with peaks higher in class C), filament 6.3V at 4A, and are capable of significant RF output (e.g., 160W+ in suitable circuits up to ~30 MHz).

Key Details: These are likely rebranded Mullard Tubes
  • Type: 811A (often interchangeable with 811 in many circuits, but the "A" variant has improvements).
  • Construction: Thoriated-tungsten filament, robust for transmitting use. "Made in England" examples from the late 1970s  are typically rebranded Mullard (or Philips/Mullard group) production, common for United Electron's imported lines. United Electron (U.S. company, often Newark, NJ) rebranded tubes from various makers, including UK/European ones.
These are transmitting tubes, popular in linear amplifiers (e.g., older AL-811 style rigs), Tesla coils, and RF projects. They are not common audio tubes but see some use in high-power audio modulators.
